Hello all!
I am just finishing catching up with e-mails after being in travel for
two weeks, and would like to let you know about the possible outcomes of
a meeting some of us have had during the Wikimedia Conference in Berlin
last Sunday.

My thanks go to Asaf Bartov, Slobodan Jakjoski, Mile Kis, Michal Reiter,
Johannes Rohr and Gergo Tisza for a very productive meeting on that
cloudy afternoon.

Firstly, as Mile has already announced, I came out with a proposal to
change the date of the conference from May--which doesn't seem doable at
the current moment due to miscommunication problems we've had
recently--to October 12-14 (that is Friday-Sunday). The suggested place
of the conference remains the same as previously, ie. Dom Obladine in
Belgrade, Serbia.

Secondly, one of the problems we identified during the meeting that led
to the failure of preparations for May was the lack of a good programme,
and especially lack of feedback for what Marcin "Saper" Cieślak created
for us. One of the goals for the conference suggested in Berlin was to
use it to help some CEE countries develop Wikimedia organisations (in
whatever form) in their countries, let them hear from those countries
that are already organised, and learn from each other.

As agreed in Berlin, I will take the lead on the preparations of the
programme, and am looking for more volunteers willing to be part of a
Programme Committee. If you are interested in being responsible for this
part of the work, please let me know.

We are also looking for more volunteers to help Mile and the local
Serbian team prepare the conference, including help with accommodation,
finances (ie. a WMF grant application), travel, and more. I think that
in the past we lacked the involvement of other WMCEE countries in that
part of the preparations, and hope that you might want to support us here.

Truth be told, we have failed to prepare the conference in May, and I
will do my best to not let it happen again. I hope you will join me and
the rest of the existing team to finally develop this unique cooperation
among our countries.

Thank you,
- --
