*Open Harvester Systems - free online workshop*

EIFL-FOSS and EIFL-OA are co-organizing a webinar coinciding with Open
Access Week 2012 <http://www.openaccessweek.org/>. The topic will be
providing access across open access journals and open access repositories,
with a focus on the free open source Open Harvester
Systems<http://www.eifl.net/open-harvester-systems>(OHS) software.

The Open Harvester Systems <http://pkp.sfu.ca/?q=harvester> is a free
metadata indexing system developed by the Public Knowledge Project through
its federally funded efforts to expand and improve access to research. OHS
allows you to create a searchable index of the metadata from Open Archives
Initiative (OAI)-compliant repositories such as sites using Open Journal
Systems (OJS) or Open Conference Systems (OCS).

*Online Workshop Details*

*Title*: Providing access across OA repositories and journals with Open
Harvester Systems.

*Date*: Friday, October 19, 2012

*Duration*: 15:00 - 16:00 UK time (16:00 – 17:00 CEST, Rome, Italy time)

The guest speaker will be Alec Smecher, Technical Architect for the Public
Knowledge Project, Simon Fraser University Library, and lead developer of
Open Journal Systems (OJS), Open Conference Systems (OCS), Open Harvester
Systems (OHS), and the PKP Web Application Library (WAL).

Oleksandr Novytskyi will also present a case study from Ukraine - using OHS
for a centralized search in all Ukrainian open access
repositories<http://oai.org.ua/>supported by the Institute of Software
Systems, National Academy of
Sciences of Ukraine and Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University.

If you also use OHS and want to tell your story, please let us know.

There is an open access wiki for Questions and Answers about
OHS<http://titanpad.com/eifl-foss-openharvester>.
If you have any questions please add them to the wiki.
