_Send in Your Contributions to the EC Public Consultation on Access to
Scientific Information before Sept. 9th!_
   Links:
     4. http://bit.ly/ogdcamp2011-eutravel

The public consultation by the EC on open access to scientific information
is still taking place. You can still _contribute your views until September
9th_!

A [5]public consultation on access to, and preservation of, digital
scientific information has been launched by the European Commission on the
initiative of European Commission Vice President for the Digital Agenda
Neelie Kroes and Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Máire
Geoghegan-Quinn. European researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs must have
easy and fast access to scientific information, to compete on an equal
footing with their counterparts across the world. Modern digital
infrastructures can play a key role in facilitating access. However, a
number of challenges remain, such as high and rising subscription prices to
scientific publications, an ever-growing volume of scientific data, and the
need to select, curate and preserve research outputs. Open access, defined
as free access to scholarly content over the Internet, can help address
this. Scientists, research funding organisations, universities, and other
interested parties are invited to send their contributions on how to improve
access to scientific information. The consultation will run until 9
September 2011. Accessing and re-using knowledge is a key objective of the
[6]Digital Agenda for Europe and the [7]Innovation Union.

_The epsiplatform.eu gets a makeover_

During the summer our team has been busy to prepare for a makeover for the
epsiplatform.eu. The name, url will stay the same, and all the great content
that is already there will remain. The design and underlying technology will
change however, so that we can put you and other community members more in
the picture. That way we will work to making sure everybody can not just
easily find all information on PSI re-use, but can easily find ways to
connect to other people working in the field, as well as find out which
groups are active where in Europe. After the makeover we will also start to
collect your stories and anecdotes on working with PSI, to take sharing
experiences to a new level. We will keep you posted (and a sneak preview may
soon be available)!

_Looking for PSI / Open Data events? Use our Event Calendar!_

We are keeping a calendar with all PSI and Open Data related events in
Europe we come across. Looking for something happening this month? Have a
look at http://www.epsiplatform.eu/european_psi_open_data_events or
subscribe to the calendar so you get notified of all events. Is your event
not in the calendar yet? Do let us know on info w epsiplatform.eu and we'll
add it.

best regards,

Ton Zijlstra and all of
the ePSIplatform team
